Tonsils and Adenoids are Gone

Miss Ellie's surgery was today. Her tonsils and adenoids are gone. She had the distinction of having the biggest tonsils of the day and being the youngest patient. Pretty impressive for only three years old.

She was quite nervous about the entire things. She hated the yellow pjs they made her wear. They simply did not pass the Ellie fashion test.

I was able to go with her as she was put under. I am so fortunate that our hospital allows us to do that. I love being able to hold their hands as they slip into a sleep. I don't have to hand a hysterical child off to a nurse and walk away. I carried her in and she didn't even know I had left. I was fortunate to do this with Lauren as well.

We hung out most of all day. She made a craft, got a balloon, watched some videos, played bingo and ordered more food than she eats on a normal day.

She will be home tomorrow. I miss my Miss Ellie.

Surgery Rescheduled

Ellie has been rescheduled for March 23rd. That's the day after Lauren 6th (Oh, my she can't turn 6) birthday.

The girls are on spring break and hopefully there will be no snow so my mother in law can come. I don't have that much sick time so I need her to come.

Ellie is feeling much better but I'm glad I cancelled it.

Surgery Cancelled

I just cancelled Ellie's surgery. She has a slight fever, is very congested, and has a cough. It's nothing that would bother her on any other day. I've been through the recovery before and it's difficult. I'd rather her be in optimal health rather than sub-optimal.

They might not have even done it. I'd rather decide to cancel it then spend a few hours at the hospital tomorrow only to find out that no one will operate on her.

Here we go again

With another T&A. That is a tonsilectomy and adenictomy. Ellie will be having her tonsils and adenoids removed sometime in the next few months. While they are doing that, they are also going to be doing a bronchscopy. They will stick a camera down her throat.

She snores very loudly and she has croup frequently. Hopefully this will put an end to that.

Lauren had a T&A in 8/07. At least now, I'm prepared. I had no idea what to expect with Lauren but I know all about the surgery. It is a rough recovery. However, Ellie can drink orange pop to her heart's content after the surgery.
